Eco Pulse: When Leaders Falter, Conviction Still Matters

by | Nov 7, 2025 | Blog

Some weeks, it feels like the people in charge are quietly admitting defeat. At global climate summits, we’re hearing language that edges closer to “we can’t stop this, we can only manage it.”

This week, Australia’s Climate Minister Chris Bowen endorsed UK PM Keir Starmer’s bleak assessment of our climate trajectory acknowledging that the world is not on track, warming will overshoot safe limits, and recovery is uncertain.

It raises the uncomfortable question: Have our leaders already given up?

Because if the message from the top becomes “we’ll miss the target, but let’s just be realistic,” then we risk something worse than denial we risk resignation.

And resignation is the perfect environment for a tragic, almost laughable “master villain” dynamic:

  • Fossil fuel interests keep drilling.
  • Policymakers shrug and say it’s complicated.
  • And citizens are left wondering if they’re foolish for still caring.

But surrender only becomes inevitable when we let ourselves believe the fight is unwinnable. And this week also brought reminders that conviction still exists in activism, in restoration projects, in community work, in art, and in science racing ahead of politics.

This is where Fix My Planet stands: not naive, not blindly hopeful, but refusing to accept the script of inevitability. We act because it isn’t over.

“It’s Going to Get Worse” — Grim Words at COP30

At COP30, Bowen aligned with Starmer’s warning that the world is now past the point of easy climate stability. The tone was striking: somber, cautionary, almost defeatist.

Yet acknowledging crisis is not the same as responding to it.And so far, policy and funding commitments are not matching the rhetoric.

If leaders describe the house as burning but keep negotiating how quickly to turn on the hose, that’s not strategy — it’s drift.

Where do we go from here?→ We push.→ We organise.→ We refuse to normalise “managed decline”.

A “Tropical Forest Forever Fund” — Real Courage Still Lives

In contrast, at the same summit, Brazil proposed a global rainforest protection fund — an effort to keep the Amazon, Congo and southeast Asian forests intact. This wasn’t symbolic. It was structural .It recognizes forests not as scenery, but as climate engines.

It proves something vital:There are leaders and communities still willing to fight, not just describe the problem, but work the solution.

This is where momentum lives.

🌲 Carbon Offsetting Market Collapse — And Why We Review Our Projects Constantly

A major investigation this week revealed that parts of the global carbon offset market have collapsed, with some forest protection schemes failing to deliver the emissions reductions they promised.

This is not surprising and it’s why Fix My Planet has always taken a hands-on, continually audited, impact-led approach to offset project selection.

Offsets are not commodities. They are relationships with living ecosystems.

If they don’t work, we don’t use them.We will never sell the illusion of impact only real impact. And if that means changing suppliers, we change.

Transparency is not optional, it is the core of climate ethics.

And a Reason for Hope: Solar Is Winning

According to the New Scientist analysis, solar energy is scaling faster than every major energy system in human history, now producing record global power and on track to dominate electricity generation this century. Solar energy is going to power …

Solar is:

  • cheaper than coal, gas and nuclear
  • faster to deploy
  • increasingly paired with battery storage
  • likely to provide 80% of global electricity by 2100

This is not speculative. This is momentum. And momentum is everything.

Why Fix My Planet Exists

We do not act because the future is guaranteed. We act because it isn’t.

We act because:

  • some leaders are faltering
  • some systems are failing
  • some solutions are collapsing
  • and yet the work of hope continues

Your footprint matters.Your offsets matter.Your conversations matter.

Not because they fix everything but because they keep the future alive.

Take the quiz.Offset your impact. Stay in the fight.
